07:57 pm: New York January
Allo :o)
Updating is still rare, sorry. Let´s see what we can do about it.
It´s been a busy couple of months. At the end of January I went with work to NYC. And here be the proof:

I originally kind of dreaded the 8-hour plane flight as it is my general belief that plane seats are THE most uncomfortable things in the world. They are supposed to be ergonomically correct right? Well then clearly I must be deformed because I have yet to encounter a plane seat that supports me in the right places. I always end up with either my neck and shoulders or the small of my back aching. But enough whining, the flight went surpisingly well, because a) the plane was only half full, leaving us with plenty of room to move. I changed seats so I got two whole seats all by myself, and b) one of the cabin attendants turned out to be a former co-worker of mine, whom I haven´t met in aaaages! We managed to catch up quite a bit in between her getting me free champagne :o)

Finally arrived and in front of our hotel the Holiday Inn Midtown Hotel. Nice place.

A few co-workers and myself went out for a bite to eat and we came across our very own Seinfeld café, the Morningstar (!!) restaurant on the corner of 9th avenue and west 57th street! The food was good, the staff friendly and we ended up going back there several times, among them for breakfast on our last morning.

Boss decided that the only way to move us all about was THIS way. Not to spoil the illusion though, but I must confess that riding a limo isn´t all what it´s hyped up to be, at least not if you´re 10 people. Then it´s just incredibly crowded. I also absolutely hate riding a car or bus sideways, it makes me dizzy. But hey, limo ride - check!

So, on with the sightseeing, and the new World Trade Center.

View taken from a place called Vinegar hill (I think) on the other side of East River.

View from one of the bridges, though I can´t remember which one... I think it might have been Williamsburg Bridge.

We went to a musical called "Motown" one evening, which was a FAB show and I recommend it to all. Before that we ate at a diner called Junior. My mother had a carrotcake cheesecake. Would you have guessed it consisted of two pieces of carrot cake and one piece of cheesecake. Well, neither did she and could therefore only manage a fourth of the thing. That dessert could have fed a whole poor family for a day I think...

Yay! Done with the National History museum and on to Starbucks!

Amurrican squirrels, which have a disturbing resemblance to the original Hyde Park squirrels :o)

We dropped by Times Square on Super Bowl sunday which was all in a mayhem. Thank god for the refuge in an Irish pub! Sorry, but if it ain´t winter sport, then I ain´t interested! ;P

And there we go. Now, after having been there three times I must honestly confess: New York isn´t my kinda city. I´m under the impression that people either love or hate it. Unfortunately I don´t belong in the former group.

And to round it all off, I´ve decided that one Ylvis GIF a day takes (a lot of) your troubles away.

And because I as always long for summer... bye now!

You should have said you were in town!

I love living here - but I stay far away from midtown and touristy areas unless I'm seeing a show!

Aw, I forgot you live there now. Bummer :o(
Our hotel was in Midtown. I think the Broadway/Central park area is fairly pretty, but out hotel was in Midtown, and... hmm, I pretty much hate the rest of the town. Guess I´m too European ;o)

So exciting!! I'm surprised there wasn't pounds of snow everywhere. Did this happen before everyone got pounded with storms? (I don't know when Super Bowl Sunday was.)

Well this was the last weekend of January, or rather the first weekend of February. I´m not sure if there had been snow and it had all disappeared again. The temp was pretty freezing the first couple of days but then it actually got rather spring-like.

How did I miss this post???? It's always nice to see you posting here. :)

Looks like you had a fab time in New York. I've only been there once and it was only for a few hours (we missed our connecting flight so the airline put us in a hotel for the night) but I guess we never really got to do any of the big things and if I'm honest I was kinda scared by all the hustle and bustle!
You took some great pictures of the all the famous landmarks though and that is the biggest slice of cheesecake I've ever seen!
Also that NY squirrel looks suspiciously like the one that is always in our garden stealing peanuts from my mum's bird feeders. :P

Hope you and the lovely Murre are well. Take care & speak soon Maia. ♥

Nice to see you too Sam XXX

The trip was interesting, I´m not very fond of NYC to be honest. But it was a company trip, so not my choice of destination.

All´s well here, I hope you are too! :o)
